Article: When to Add Manure?

Created on: Friday, April 22, 2011

Manure is essentially an organic fertilizer and has the advantage of adding a balanced set of nutrients to your soil. Manure contains Nitrogen (N), Phosphorous (P), Potassium (K), trace nutrients and soil microorganism stimulants. Manure, depending on the amount of organic matter, can add bulk and structure to your soil that increases water holding capacity. Composted manure is safer (won't burn plants), and its nutrients are more easily absorbed by the plant. And dehydrated manure has even more concentrated benefits.
